Yeah Guyana is a New Caribbean Island
that's located in South America between Venezuela, Suriname and Brazil!

Why all the hate? Guyana is a full time member of Caricom, and is one of the founding members.  If thats good enough, why does it matter that it is a part of South America and isn't an island? 

Perhaps calling it the first "Caribbean" publishing house means that it publishes works by authors no matter what Caribbean nation they're from.  I don't know if thats the case with the "Jamaican" publishing houses that everyone is citing.  After all, according to the article, Earl Lovelace (a Trinidadian author) and Derek Walcott (a St. Lucian poet) seem to like the concept.

Don't be FOOLED  by any South American
Publishing House Calling itself "the 1ST CARIBBEAN, anything!"
CARICOM member or not.

It's still a South American country vying for business & competing with
long established Caribbean Publishing Industries.

- it's still taking much needed  jobs FROM the CARIBBEAN ISLANDS
while outsourcing &  providing employment to continent of
SOUTH AMERICA!

The Guyana claims are intentionally misleading and misnomer.

What will be the real difference in
sending books away to a Guyanese "Caribbean friendly" factory
that's  located in South America to be published & distributed?
Or sending them work  the UK Caribbean "friendly" publisher" or Canadian Caribbean" friendly" publisher? or any other publisher located outside of the Caribbean islands - who insist on calling their new company's Caribbean?

It's still a sneaky  form outsoursing jobs  from the "actual" Caribbean  to go to benefit South America continent
& It's still taking much needed publishing jobs & industry from the
Islands in the Caribbean.

Jamaica needs to reclaim, reenergize, advertise, protect  it's
established Caribbean Publishing Industry & retain Jobs for it's People
on their Islands, when their factories are shutting down and industry is leaving in droves, leaving  more Caribbean born and bred based People  who are still living withiin the true Caribbean Islands unemployed and poor !

Why is it that Jamaica is the representative of the Caribbean? Why not say the Caribbean needs to reclaim, reenergize... and so on?  Sounds like you want all the jobs to be in Jamaica and not anywhere else. 
Jamaicans seem to think that they are the only Caribbean country that matter.

I don't understand all the Guyanese hate. Guyana has more in common culturally and politically with rest of the "Caribbean" than the Dominican Republic and Guadeloupe.

The heads of  Caricom should kick Guyana and Ragdeo out of Caricom. Then maybe all the bonafide West Indian islands will get along and actually achieve the goals set forth in Caricom. Guyanese should stay in south america because they are south americans and quit populating the caribbean.

Guyana has alot of work to do in sense of crime and imagration, thats a fact but, it seems like mostly everyone here is focused on that its "South American" and not an Island, which  doesnt make it the caribbean.

You people need to be a little more educated. 

The culture in Guyana is Caribbean, thats not going to change because its not an island. The location doesnt make a difference, the country has been a respected member of caricom for years, and it hosted the first caribbean festival of arts in the 70s and again lastyear. Now i might be wrong, but go and tell the people of Guyana that their culture is wrong, that the way they speak is wrong (yes, guyanese people speak with a caribbean accent,shocking i know), and tell one of the most well known cricket teams in the world (the west indies) that they need to kick out all the guyanese players. 

Guyana has alot of work to do, its in debt an people dont have alot of money and because of that the crime rate goes up,  the government is trying, but people need to focus more on how to make the country better and stop talking about how its not an island...that doesnt help anything. 

It's a great idea to open a
publishing house
but Guyana is really located in
South America. Why not
put truth & honesty  to use when advertising
a service?

Why is it that Guyana is considered a caribbean country and not suriname-_-? i mean they are right next to each other. i think its fine that guyana is caribbean but if it is so then guyana suruiname and french guyana should be considered carribean too!!

i can tell 99% of u here are poor wen it comes to geography , what you need to do is get that whole concept out of your mind that the caribbean is only ISLANDS!, there are countrys from south america aswel e.g Colombia,Venezuela,Guyana,Panama and so forth. They are all carribbean because they lay within in the caribbean sea regardless of language or culture.

It seems as thought a lot of persons just make comments for the sake of doing so. Where is the research?
